NuFormer HQ – The acclaimed international creative magazine Computer Arts devoted an article to projection mapping featuring NuFormer. The magazine places the “The Light Fantastic” under the monthly section on ‘Future Design’ in its 201th issue, indicating that the high point of 3D video mapping projection has not yet been reached and that the medium is here to stay. Here are some nice passages from the article:

“If there’s one thing on which all the studios we’ve spoken to agree, it’s that projection mapping – which began its surge in popularity a few years back – is yet to reach its full potential.”

Besides sharing very practical, hands-on information on video mapping productions, the author also asks NuFormer’s MD Rob Delfgaauw about his passion for 3D video mapping projection and the role he thinks it will have in the future:

“There are many more things that can be done,” agrees NuFormer’s Delfgaauw. “The use of video recognition techniques, Kinect, Infrared and many more technologies can all be used to make the technology more attractive and interactive.” Naturally, high levels of interactivity with an audience tend to increase levels of engagement – and they also raise the bar. As the market becomes more and more familiar with video mapping, it will become more demanding,” he concludes.

Rob Delfgaauw: “Creativity and originality, together with solid and professional project organization, will make the difference in the near future.”

This time it was the nomination of Yerevan as the UNESCO World Book Capital of 2012 that called for a celebration. Armenia’s literary history was translated into a vivid and colorful animation that was projected onto the Matenadaran, a depository for ancient manuscripts and books. The 3D video mapping projection that ended with a flamboyant pyrotechnical show, formed the peak of a day filled with international entertainment.

Two days before the show, Project Manager Natascha Rooda and 3D designer Loris Movsesian travelled down to Yerevan for the preparations of the show.

Thousands of spectators were able to enjoy the festive projection that ended in spectacular fireworks.
